Andhra Pradesh Government Refutes Claims Regarding SCoR Zone Headquarters Land Allocation

The Andhra Pradesh government has refuted statements made by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, asserting that the state has taken steps to hand over the required land for the Visakhapatnam-headquartered South Coast Railway (SCoR) Zone.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) highlighted that the communication regarding the land allocation was conveyed to the Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair Division of East Coast Railway, through a letter dated January 2, 2024, by the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner. The letter requested the Indian Railway to coordinate with GVMC officials for a joint inspection of the land at Mudasarlova and take possession at the earliest.

The disagreement arose as the Union Railway Minister claimed that the state had not yet handed over the designated 53 acres for the Visakha Railway Zone, hindering the commencement of work despite the readiness of the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
