Andhra Pradesh Government Releases Funds for Anganwadi Centers

The Government of Andhra Pradesh has taken steps to address the concerns of Anganwadi workers and helpers. Minister for Women and Child Welfare, K.V. Usha Sricharan, announced the release of ₹66.54 crore to cover rent for 16,575 buildings in rural and tribal areas, along with 6,705 buildings in urban areas. Additionally, ₹7.81 crore was allocated for consumables like soaps, and ₹6.36 crore for the maintenance fund for 21,206 Anganwadi Centers.

The upper age limit for the promotion of Anganwadi helpers to workers has been raised to 50, and the age limit for the continuation of both workers and helpers is set at 62. As an end-of-service benefit, workers will receive ₹1 lakh, while helpers will get ₹40,000. The government has also introduced a provision for claiming TA/DA for Anganwadi workers and helpers. These measures aim to address the welfare and financial concerns of Anganwadi staff in the state.
