Army Officer Arrested for Allegedly Killing Woman Demanding Marriage in Dehradun

An Army officer, identified as Lieutenant Colonel Ramendu Upadhyay, has been arrested in Dehradun for allegedly killing a woman he was having an extramarital affair with. Upadhyay confessed to the crime during interrogation, stating that he met the woman, Shreya Sharma, in a dance bar in Siliguri while he was posted in West Bengal.

Their friendship turned into an affair, and she eventually moved to Dehradun with him. However, frequent quarrels arose as Shreya pressured him to marry her, leading Upadhyay to hatch a plan to kill her. He allegedly took her to a club, made her drink heavily, and then fatally struck her head with a hammer. He subsequently disposed of her body and attempted to obscure her identity. The police have recovered evidence related to the crime, including the murder weapon.
