Bangladesh Players Rise in ICC T20I Rankings After New Zealand Series

Dhaka, May 6 (ANI): Bangladesh players have made significant gains in the latest update of the International Cricket Council (ICC) men’s T20I rankings following their recent home series against New Zealand. The three-match T20I series ended in a 1-1 draw due to a washout, but several Bangladesh players showed strong performances.

Young batter Towhid Hridoy was one of the biggest winners, climbing two places to 37th in the T20I batters’ rankings. He scored 84 runs across two innings and earned Player of the Series honors. At the top of the batting chart, India’s Abhishek Sharma remains in first place.

Bangladesh skipper Litton Das also improved, moving up one spot to 52nd after his contributions in the final match at Mirpur. In the bowling rankings, Mahedi Hasan rose to 17th, and left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam jumped nine places to 54th due to his consistent performances against New Zealand.

New Zealand bowlers also saw positive movement. Fast bowler Ben Sears climbed 10 places to 51st, while leg-spinner Ish Sodhi moved up to equal 88th, becoming the highest-ranked Kiwi bowler in T20I.

The latest ODI rankings reflect results from the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series involving Nepal, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates. Oman opener Jatinder Singh rose seven places to joint 65th, while teammate Shakeel Ahmed moved up nine spots to 31st in the bowling rankings. Nepal’s all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee also made a strong showing, climbing 12 places to 31st in the ODI all-rounders’ list.
