Congress Supports TVK Government Formation Bid

Tamil Nadu Congress leaders officially met TVK president Vijay on Wednesday at the party’s headquarters in Chennai and extended their support to help Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) form the next government in the state.

This important political development came after the Tamil Nadu Assembly election resulted in a hung verdict, where no single party secured enough seats to form a government on its own.

With the state facing political uncertainty, Congress’s decision to support TVK could play a major role in determining who will lead the next administration.

The Congress delegation was led by Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K. Selvaperunthagai and included Congress Legislature Party leader S. Rajesh Kumar, All India Congress Committee (AICC) functionary Praveen Chakravarty, along with other Congress MLAs.

During the meeting, Congress leaders reportedly assured Vijay of their backing in government formation efforts.

This support is seen as a strategic move aimed at preventing rival political alliances, especially those involving the BJP or NDA, from gaining influence in Tamil Nadu.

Congress’s backing could significantly improve TVK’s chances of securing the majority required to form a stable government.

Political analysts say the alliance reflects the rapidly changing political landscape in Tamil Nadu, where traditional power structures are being challenged by Vijay’s growing popularity.

The meeting also signals that Congress is willing to align with newer political forces to maintain its role in the state’s governance.

For Vijay and TVK, Congress’s support marks a major political boost as the party moves closer to potentially leading Tamil Nadu.

As alliance discussions continue, the coming days are expected to be crucial in finalizing government formation and shaping the state’s political future.
