Changing Votes and Political Shifts in Tamil Nadu
A 57-year-old voter from Virudhunagar district, Muruga Selvi, shared her views in an interview with South First. She said that she has supported the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) for many years, but now her thinking has changed.
Selvi said that from now on, she wants to vote for any party that provides good governance. She explained that she is no longer focused on one party and is more interested in how well a government works for the people.
She also admitted that she does not know the current candidates from either the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) or the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in her area.
For Selvi, the DMK is connected to the legacy of M. Karunanidhi, also known as Kalaignar. On the other hand, the AIADMK reminds her of leaders like M. G. Ramachandran (MGR) and J. Jayalalithaa.
Her views show a growing change among voters. Many people are now focusing less on party loyalty and more on good performance and governance when choosing whom to vote for.
