Civilians in Balochistan Face Ongoing Violence
In Pakistan’s Balochistan region, reports of violence against civilians are continuing. Human rights groups say that people are facing killings and forced disappearances, causing fear among local communities.
According to the Human Rights Council of Balochistan (HRCB), a man named Aamir Noor from the Tump area of Kech district was shot dead on April 28. He was travelling with his family to get medical treatment when he was attacked by a group linked to Pakistan-backed forces.
At the same time, the Baloch Women Forum has raised serious concerns about the increasing number of enforced disappearances of women in the region. They say this situation is creating fear and distress among civilians.
Separately, an international human rights organisation has called on Pakistani authorities to release two activists, Hanif Pashteen and Noor Ullah Tareen. They were detained in November last year while leaving the Provincial Assembly in Peshawar. Both activists are connected to the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), a civil rights group.
Human rights groups continue to urge authorities to ensure safety, justice, and the protection of civilians in the region.
