Clash at Palakkad Municipality Meeting; Chairperson Accuses Left-Congress Councillors of Assault
A serious clash broke out during a meeting at the Palakkad Municipality in Kerala. Chairperson Priya Ajayan said that councillors from the Left and Congress parties attacked her during the heated session. The incident shocked many people and quickly drew attention across the state.
The meeting started as usual, but arguments between the ruling and opposition members soon turned into shouting. The chairperson tried to control the situation, but some members refused to listen. The argument became more intense, and at one point, Priya Ajayan said a few councillors came close to her and physically pushed her.
She later spoke to the media and said, “They pushed me and tried to stop me from doing my duty. This is not how public representatives should behave.” She blamed both Left and Congress councillors for the incident and said she would file a formal complaint.
Opposition members denied the allegations. They said they only protested against what they called the chairperson’s unfair behavior during the meeting. They claimed she did not allow them to speak and ignored their points. “We raised our voice because she refused to hear us. No one attacked her,” one Congress councillor said.
The police reached the municipality office after receiving reports about the clash. They spoke to several councillors and reviewed CCTV footage to understand what happened. Officers said they will take action if they find proof of any assault.
The incident created tension in the local political scene. Leaders from all sides called for calm and asked their members to maintain discipline. Many citizens expressed concern and said they expect elected representatives to work together peacefully.
The Palakkad Municipality meeting, meant to solve civic issues, ended in chaos instead. Now, people are watching to see what action the police and higher officials will take against those involved in the fight.
