CM Vijay Meets TVK Workers Before Tamil Nadu Bypoll

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president C. Joseph Vijay is scheduled to meet booth-level party functionaries in Madurantakam on Friday, September 25, as the party steps up its campaign for the October 6 Assembly bypoll. The interaction is scheduled for around 3 pm.

The meeting is part of TVK’s ground-level campaign preparations in the constituency. Party leaders have been holding meetings with booth agents and functionaries to coordinate campaign activities and reach voters ahead of polling.

Vijay’s programme will also include a public campaign meeting near the Athur toll plaza in Chengalpattu. According to the party, entry to the event has been restricted to 5,000 people, with QR-code passes issued under police guidelines.

The TVK has fielded K. Maragatham Kumaravel as its candidate in Madurantakam. She had earlier won the constituency on an AIADMK ticket in the 2026 Assembly election before resigning as MLA and joining the TVK.

During meetings with party workers, TVK leaders have focused on local issues and public grievance redressal. Rural Development and Water Resources Minister N. Anand said party workers should undertake door-to-door campaigning and highlight issues such as roads and drinking-water supply.

The Madurantakam bypoll is one of two Assembly by-elections scheduled for October 6, with the other being held in Dharapuram. The contests follow the resignation of the sitting AIADMK MLAs, who subsequently joined the TVK and were again fielded by the party in their respective constituencies.

The campaign has intensified as political parties prepare for the bypolls. Vijay’s interaction with booth-level workers is expected to focus on coordinating the party’s local campaign organisation and communicating its agenda to voters.

With polling scheduled for October 6 and counting set for October 9, parties are increasing their outreach activities in Madurantakam in the final phase of the campaign.
