CMDA to Develop Modern Football Ground in Shenoy Nagar, Chennai

The Greater Chennai Corporation has approved a resolution to authorize the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) to undertake various infrastructure projects in the city. As part of the development plan, a modern football ground spanning 4.3 acres in Shenoy Nagar, Ward 102 in Anna Nagar zone, will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹5 crore. The football ground will be built on an open space reserve (OSR) land and is expected to provide the community with a state-of-the-art sports facility.

The CMDA has been granted permission by the Corporation to proceed with the construction of the modern playground, and the Corporation officials will issue a no-objection certificate to facilitate the project. In addition to the football ground, the CMDA will also work on other sports-related developments, including an indoor stadium near Mondakanniamman Temple in Mylapore, costing around ₹2.5 crore.

Another football ground in Kottur will be built by the CMDA at an estimated cost of ₹5 crore, further adding to the city’s sports infrastructure. The reconstruction of the dhobi khana in Chetpet is also part of the proposed developments, with the CMDA allocating around ₹10 crore for this project. These infrastructure initiatives aim to enhance sports facilities, promote active lifestyles, and contribute to the overall growth and development of Chennai’s recreational and sports amenities.
