CPI(M) Accuses Congress of Silence on CAA

Accusing the Congress of maintaining silence on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan alleged that the party’s Kerala unit withdrew from opposing the CAA under the directives of its national leadership. Speaking at a LDF election meeting, Vijayan reiterated his claims that the Congress, including Rahul Gandhi, has failed to address the CAA in its poll manifesto.

He criticized the party for not taking a firm stand against the BJP’s Sangh Parivar agenda, drawing parallels between the Congress’s silence and the BJP’s policies. Vijayan further alleged that the Congress only opposes actions by Central agencies when they target its own leaders, remaining silent otherwise. Despite refutations from senior Congress leaders, Vijayan continued to assert that the party’s silence on critical national issues has disappointed voters who expected more vocal opposition in the Parliament.
