Death Toll Reaches Four in Jehovah Witness Convention Centre Explosions

Tragic news continues to emerge following two explosions at the Christian convention center of Jehovah’s Witness in Kerala. Another woman succumbed to her injuries eight days after the blasts, raising the death toll to four. The explosions on October 29 initially claimed one life, with two others later succumbing to their injuries. Molly Joy, 61, who had suffered 80 percent burns, tragically lost her battle for life. At present, ten individuals are undergoing treatment, with two still in serious condition.

The accused, Dominic Martin, a member of the same prayer group, turned himself in at a police station in Thrissur shortly after the explosions and admitted to the crime. As Martin’s judicial custody ends today, the police probe team will likely seek an extension to ensure no doubts remain about his possible involvement, especially given the uncertainty about whether he acted alone. Meanwhile, the prayer congregation, which had been conducting daily online sessions after the explosions, resumed physical gatherings on Sunday under strict screening and security measures.
