Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) Elections Witness 42% Voter Turnout

In the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections, 42% of students exercised their right to vote. A total of 24 candidates were in the running for four posts at Delhi University. Voting began in the morning colleges associated with the university at 8:30 a.m., while in the evening colleges, it started at 3 p.m. The election results are expected to be announced on the following day, with preliminary results from various college-level student union elections already coming in. Eight candidates contested for the President’s post, five for Vice President, six for Secretary, and five for Joint Secretary.

These elections marked a return to student union polls in Delhi University after a three-year hiatus due to COVID-19-related challenges. The university administration relaxed age limits for candidates due to the delay, allowing undergraduate and postgraduate candidates to be up to 25 and 28 years old, respectively.
