Europe Needs Its Own Missile Defense System

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has suggested that Europe should build its own missile defense system to better protect itself. He said that Ukraine is already in talks with several European countries about this idea.

Zelenskyy explained that stopping missiles from Russia is one of the biggest challenges in the ongoing war. He said that not all defense systems can stop these attacks. Only advanced systems, such as the MIM-104 Patriot from the United States, are able to intercept Russian ballistic missiles effectively.

He described the plan to create a European missile defense system as difficult, but still possible. According to him, the goal is to develop this system within one year. He believes that if European countries work together, they can build a strong defense network.

Zelenskyy also mentioned that discussions with important European partners have already started. However, he did not share details about which countries are involved or how the system will be built.

Overall, the proposal shows Ukraine’s effort to strengthen defense in the region and reduce the threat from missile attacks.
