Fake Call Center Duping US Citizens Busted by Goa Police

Goa Police’s Cyber Crime Unit has successfully dismantled a fake call center operation and arrested 14 individuals involved in the scam. The fraudulent call center targeted US citizens by posing as technical support providers.

The scammers would deceive victims into believing their devices were infected with viruses and that hackers had accessed their sensitive information. Under the guise of offering security upgrades, the criminals would coerce victims into paying using gift cards. The police seized nine laptops, one tablet, four mobile phones, and other items worth Rs 5.5 lakh associated with the operation.
