Fishermen Protest in Tamil Nadu Against Alleged Sri Lankan Attack
Fishermen in the Nagapattinam and Ramanathapuram districts of Tamil Nadu staged protests against an alleged mid-sea attack by Sri Lankans. The attack reportedly occurred late on Saturday night when a group of Indian fishermen was confronted by seven individuals on a motorboat near Point Calimere. The attackers allegedly seized valuables including fishing nets, GPS devices, mobile phones, and the day’s catch. Injured fishermen are being treated at Nagapattinam Government Hospital, and a police case has been registered.
Fishermen’s associations are demanding appropriate action against the assailants, with some expressing suspicions about the Sri Lankan government’s involvement in the attack. They are also urging the Indian and Sri Lankan governments to address such incidents and maintain friendly relations.
