Framing of Charges Against Minister Senthilbalaji Scheduled for January 22

The Principal Sessions Court has set January 22 as the date for framing charges against Minister V. Senthilbalaji in connection with a money-laundering case filed by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED). The minister, currently in jail, was arrested by the ED on June 14, 2023, and has been in judicial custody since.

The ED’s prosecution complaint, filed in August, alleges that Senthilbalaji, in his former role as the Transport Minister during the AIADMK regime, abused his position to engage in a ‘cash-for-jobs scam.’ The investigation revealed a criminal conspiracy involving illegal gratification for recruiting candidates to various posts. Senthilbalaji, who underwent bypass surgery, will be produced before the court for the framing of charges.
