The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced three nominees for the Men’s Player of the Month award for August 2026. The shortlist includes Sri Lanka’s Sonal Dinusha, England’s Ollie Robinson and Bangladesh’s Hasan Mahmud.
All three players made a strong impact in Test cricket during August. Their performances included important runs, valuable wickets and impressive displays in challenging matches. The nominees were selected based on their individual performances during the month.
Sri Lankan all-rounder Sonal Dinusha earned his place on the shortlist after producing strong performances for his team. His contributions with the bat and ball helped him stand out among the leading Test players during the month.
England’s Ollie Robinson is also among the nominees. The fast bowler has been recognised for his ability to take important wickets and put pressure on opposition batsmen. His performances during August helped strengthen his case for the monthly award.
Bangladesh fast bowler Hasan Mahmud completes the three-player shortlist. He impressed with his bowling performances and showed his ability to trouble batsmen at the Test level. His performances during the month earned him recognition from the ICC.
August was an important month for Test cricket, with several players producing big individual performances. The month featured high-scoring innings, economical bowling and matches that produced memorable moments for cricket fans.
One of the highlights mentioned in the nominations was a historic Test match in Australia. The performances during the month showed the continued importance of Test cricket and the different skills required to succeed in the longest format of the game.
The winner will be decided through a combination of votes from registered ICC fans and members of the ICC Voting Academy. This gives cricket supporters an opportunity to have a direct role in choosing the monthly award winner.
Fans who are registered with the ICC can cast their votes through the official ICC awards platform. The voting process will remain open until September 14, 2026.
The three nominees now have an opportunity to add another individual achievement to their careers. With players from Sri Lanka, England and Bangladesh on the shortlist, the award also highlights the performances of cricketers from different Test-playing nations.
The final result will depend on the votes received during the voting period. Cricket fans will now have to choose between Dinusha, Robinson and Mahmud based on their performances during August.
