Imam-ul-Haq Injury Investigation by PCB

Pakistan batter Imam-ul-Haq’s calf injury during the second Test against England at Lord’s has sparked an inquiry after he was unable to bat in either innings. The incident occurred on 27 August when Imam hurt his left calf while fielding on the first day of the match.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that scans showed a low-grade strain, and Imam was being treated by Pakistan’s medical team. However, on the fourth day of the Test, he was seen with heavy strapping on his calf during practice sessions, leading some to suspect he was exaggerating his injury.

Following Pakistan’s poor performance in the first two Tests, Imam, along with six other players, was sent home. PCB’s Auqib Javed announced an inquiry into the matter, questioning how someone with a minor muscle strain could miss both innings. He emphasized that this case is unusual and requires action.

A team insider suggested Imam might face serious consequences and possibly seek legal advice ahead of the investigation. This comes after former chief selector Mohammad Wasim mentioned concerns about suspicious injury patterns involving Imam during Pakistan’s 2022 Test series against England.

Imam scored 42 runs in the first innings of the first Test but was dismissed cheaply in the second. Pakistan lost both Tests, with the third and final match scheduled for Birmingham on 9 September.

The inquiry aims to determine the truth behind Imam’s injury and address concerns about his absence from crucial batting opportunities.
