IMD Predicts Severe Heatwave Conditions in Odisha and West Bengal

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted severe heatwave conditions in Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Telangana, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu for the next five days. According to the IMD, heatwave to severe heatwave conditions will persist in many places over Gangetic West Bengal, some parts of Odisha, and isolated pockets over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal during this period.

Additionally, heatwave conditions are expected in isolated pockets over Bihar, Jharkhand, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and East Uttar Pradesh. Hot and humid weather is predicted over several regions, including Assam & Meghalaya, Tripura, Kerala & Mahe, Coastal Karnataka, and Puducherry & Karaikal. Meanwhile, the IMD has also forecasted a fresh spell of rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over the Western Himalayan region and plains of Northwest India from April 26-28, along with isolated heavy rainfall in certain areas.
