Indian Coast Guard Monitors Oil Spill in Ennore After Cyclone Michaung

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has been actively monitoring the oil spill situation in Ennore following the impact of Cyclone Michaung. After the cyclone, oil-mixed floodwater entered Ennore Creek and Buckingham Canal, causing a spill of around 20 sq. km. The ICG swiftly responded, and its ships and helicopters neutralized the oil spill near the coast.

There have been no reports of the oil slick extending into the coastal area, and the ICG continues to provide expert advice to Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited and the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board for assessment, cleaning, and recovery efforts in Ennore Creek and nearby areas.
