India’s Boxers Shine at 2026 Commonwealth Games

India’s boxers had their best performance ever at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, winning a record 10 medals, including seven golds and three silvers. This made India the most successful nation in boxing at the event and helped the country finish fourth overall in the medal standings.

Boxing accounted for over a quarter of India’s total medals. For the first time, India topped the boxing medal table at the Commonwealth Games. The team set a new standard, achieving its highest number of gold and overall boxing medals in one edition of the Games.

Both experienced boxers and newcomers contributed to this success. The women’s team won five golds: Sakshi Chaudhary (51kg), Preeti Pawar (54kg), Jaismine Lamboria (57kg), Priya Ghanghas (60kg), and Arundhati Choudhary (70kg). Their victories showed India’s strength across women’s weight categories.

The men’s team added two golds: Sachin won in the 60kg category, and Ankush Panghal claimed the 80kg title. This brought India’s total boxing gold medals to seven, a new high. The country also earned three silvers: Jadumani Singh Mandengbam (men’s 55kg), Narender Berwal (men’s +90kg), and Lovlina Borgohain (women’s 75kg).

Every Indian boxer who reached the finals won either gold or silver, making it one of India’s strongest performances at a major event. India ended with 39 medals overall—13 gold, 17 silver, and nine bronze—to finish fourth in the medal standings. Boxing contributed seven of India’s 13 golds and 10 of its 39 total medals, making it the country’s most successful sport at the Games.
