ISIS Sympathizers Arrested in Uttar Pradesh

The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has apprehended two individuals suspected of having connections to ISIS, Abdullah Arsalan, 26, and Maaz Bin Tariq, 25, in Aligarh. Both individuals were allegedly planning terrorist activities across the state. Arsalan holds a B.Tech degree in petroleum chemical engineering from a private university, while Tariq is pursuing a B.Com degree through distance learning.

According to Special Director General Prashant Kumar, they were inspired by ISIS ideology and received instructions from ISIS handlers to carry out terror activities in the state. Propaganda material related to ISIS and Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) was recovered from their pen drives. Their involvement came to light following the arrest of Shahnawaz Alam and Rizwan Ashraf by the Special Cell of Delhi Police, who were associated with Aligarh Muslim University.

These individuals were self-radicalized and had plans for attacks in Ayodhya, Akshardham in Delhi, and the Chabad House in Mumbai. Arsalan and Tariq were arrested and are now in judicial custody, with further investigation ongoing to uncover their network and associates.
