Israel Kills Hamas Leader in Gaza

The Israeli military confirmed on Saturday (May 16, 2024) that Ezzedine Al-Haddad, leader of Hamas’ armed wing, was killed in an air strike in Gaza the day before.

The military stated, “Yesterday, in a precise strike near Gaza City, the terrorist Ezzedine Al-Haddad was killed.”

Two Hamas officials told AFP that Haddad was killed in an Israeli strike on a residential building and a civilian car in Gaza City on Friday (May 15).

The military said Haddad was one of the top commanders in Hamas’s armed wing who played a key role in planning and carrying out the October 7 massacre.

“Haddad was involved in holding many Israeli hostages captive during the conflict,” the military added.

He was also responsible for managing Hamas’s hostage system and used hostages to protect himself from being targeted.
