KKR’s Fight for IPL 2026 Playoffs: Can Kolkata Qualify?

The struggling three-time champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), face a crucial match against Gujarat Titans at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday. KKR started the season poorly, losing their first six games, but managed to turn things around with four straight wins. However, a recent loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has hurt their playoff chances.

With only nine points from 11 matches, KKR are currently eighth in the IPL standings and still have a mathematical chance to make it into the top four. Gujarat Titans and RCB lead the table with 16 points each. For KKR to qualify, they need to win their remaining games, but even that might not be enough. The final two playoff spots will likely come down to six teams fighting for them.

Under captain Ajinkya Rahane, KKR finished just outside the top four in last year’s IPL. This time, they hope their home advantage in their final three matches will help turn things around. KKR also need some luck, as they rely on other eliminated teams like Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants to defeat stronger sides.
