Israel to Open Kerem Shalom Border Crossing for Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

The Israeli government has agreed to open the Kerem Shalom border crossing to facilitate the quicker delivery of humanitarian supplies into Gaza. The decision was announced by COGAT, the Israeli body for civil coordination with Palestinians. Colonel Elad Goren from COGAT stated that the opening of Kerem Shalom would allow for the inspection and flow of humanitarian aid, subject to checks by UN agencies.

The move is expected to expedite the delivery of crucial supplies into Gaza, where the current aid flow through the Rafah border has caused delays. This decision follows negotiations aimed at addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
