Karnataka Minister Criticizes Centre for Downplaying Death Penalty of Naval Officers in Qatar

Karnataka Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao expressed strong criticism of the Indian central government for downplaying the death penalty imposed on eight former Indian Naval Force officers in Qatar. Rao, who is also the AICC In-Charge Secretary of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, took to social media to voice his concerns.

He found it shocking that a Qatari court had sentenced these officers to death and questioned the government’s response, stating that labeling the incident as “normal” under the pretext of secrecy was inappropriate.

He further noted that the central government had not taken adequate measures to address the situation, and the issue was of grave concern to the entire nation. Rao emphasized the need for a sensitive and prudent approach in handling the matter and urged the central government to recognize its significance.
