Loco Running Staff in India Demand Improved Conditions

A significant number of loco running staff participated in a hunger protest organized by the All India Loco Running Staff Association (AILRSA) in front of the Moore Market Complex suburban railway station in India. The protesters are advocating for improved working conditions. They requested a reduction in duty hours, the implementation of the 40-hour weekly rest recommendation from the high-power Committee (HPC) report in 2013, and limiting night duty to two days a week.

Other demands include the restoration of the old pension scheme, keeping Indian railways in the public sector, and preventing privatization. They are also highlighting the lack of basic amenities for female loco drivers and are calling for their provision. The protesters aim to expedite the process of inter-divisional transfer within railway zones and inter-railway transfer among different railway zones.
