Kerala Minister Accused of Irregular Appointments at Labour Institute

Allegations of ‘backdoor appointments’ have surfaced in Kerala, with State Education and Labour Minister V. Sivankutty being accused of regularizing the appointment of 10 individuals at the Kerala Institute of Labour and Employment (KILE). The appointments date back to Sivankutty’s tenure as KILE’s chairman between 2016 and 2021.

The Leader of the Opposition, V.D. Satheesan, has called for a probe into all appointments at KILE, alleging that 10 contract employees have been regularized against state norms. The appointments have faced criticism for flouting established rules and increasing the salary bill at KILE. This controversy underscores concerns about alleged nepotism and political appointments in government positions.
