Professor Arrested for Alleged Molestation on Delhi-Mumbai Flight

The Mumbai Police have taken a professor from Patna into custody for allegedly molesting a woman doctor on a Delhi-Mumbai IndiGo flight earlier this week. The accused, identified as 47-year-old Rohit Shrivastava, and the 24-year-old woman were seated next to each other on the flight that departed at approximately 5.30 a.m. from New Delhi on Wednesday.

According to the victim’s complaint, Shrivastava touched her inappropriately with malicious intent just before the flight was about to land in Mumbai. In response, the doctor and professor engaged in a heated altercation, and the victim promptly reported the incident to the flight crew.

After landing, they were taken to the Sahar Police Station, where a complaint of sexual harassment was registered against Shrivastava under IPC Sections 354 and 354A, leading to his immediate arrest. On Thursday, he was produced before a court, which remanded him to judicial custody, and he was later granted bail while further investigations are ongoing. The airline, IndiGo, is expected to issue a statement regarding the incident later on Friday.
