Record-Breaking Rainfall in Beijing: Heaviest Precipitation in 140 Years

Beijing, China’s capital city, has witnessed its most intense rainfall in 140 years, according to authorities. Over the past few days, the city recorded a staggering 744.8 mm of rain, the highest amount ever registered during a rainstorm, as reported by the Beijing Meteorological Service.

The torrential downpours were brought on by Typhoon Doksuri, which has caused 11 fatalities in the city as of Tuesday morning. However, on a positive note, the red alert for flooding was lifted on Wednesday morning, indicating that the water levels in major rivers have receded below the warning mark.
