Sri Lanka U-19 Players Arrested for Hotel Filming

Two Under-19 cricket players from Sri Lanka were arrested after being accused of secretly filming women while they were bathing at the hotel where the team was staying.

According to reports, women staying at the hotel complained to police after they suspected the players had used their mobile phones to record them in private areas. The incident caused serious concern, as it involved an invasion of privacy.

Police took both young cricketers into custody for questioning. Later, they were released on bail after each paid about $1,564. Authorities are now continuing their investigation to determine whether any videos were shared online or distributed through social media.

The players are scheduled to appear in court again on May 25 for further legal proceedings.

So far, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has not publicly announced any disciplinary action against the players.

The incident comes during a period of major change within Sri Lanka Cricket. Recently, the board’s leadership resigned, and a new Transformation Committee was formed to oversee reforms in the organization.

Former Sri Lankan cricket captain Kumar Sangakkara is among the key members of this committee, which also includes experts from politics, law, and business sectors.

The committee’s goal is to improve governance, restore trust, and strengthen Sri Lanka Cricket after recent leadership changes. This controversy adds further pressure on the organization as it works toward reform.
