Supreme Court Delays Hearing on Arvind Kejriwal’s Arrest Challenge

The Supreme Court has deferred the hearing on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s petition seeking to quash his arrest in the Delhi Excise policy case. While requesting a response from the Directorate of Enforcement (ED), the court declined to order his interim release or schedule the case for April 19, opting instead for a hearing in the week commencing April 29.

Senior advocate A.M. Singhvi, representing Kejriwal, highlighted the timing of the arrest, alleging it was orchestrated to hinder his Lok Sabha election campaigning. Singhvi asserted that Kejriwal’s name did not feature in any relevant documents pertaining to the case, emphasizing its unusual nature. The court directed the ED to submit its response by April 24, with Kejriwal’s rejoinder due by April 26.
