Swift Response Prevents Tragedy: Gas Leak Incident in Kanhangad, Kerala

Prompt action by a vigilant tanker driver averted a potential tragedy when a cooking gas tanker developed a leak near Chithari, Kanhangad, in Kasaragod district of Kerala on May 23 morning. Emergency services, including Fire and Rescue Services personnel, swiftly responded to seal the leak, ensuring public safety.

Residents within a 300-meter radius were evacuated with the assistance of various government departments and local authorities, while traffic on the State highway was diverted. The leak, traced to the rotor gauge of the tanker, prompted expert assistance from Mangaluru’s Indian Oil Corporation to transfer the gas to other tankers. Despite the temporary diversion, authorities are ensuring continued safety measures until the gas transfer process is completed.
