Tamil Nadu CM Honors Students Qualifying for Premier Institutions

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin recognized and felicitated students from government schools who successfully qualified for prestigious institutions like IITs, IITMs, and other medical colleges. The event took place at Anna Central University, where the Chief Minister presented laptops and certificates to the accomplished students. Notably, the number of government school students who secured admissions in premier institutes increased significantly in the academic year 2022-23 compared to the previous year.

The count rose to 247 students, a marked rise from the 75 students who qualified in 2022. The Higher Education Department reported that among these achievers, six students secured spots in the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), while 77 joined institutions like the National Institute of Technology (NIT), the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs), and the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) by clearing the JEE examinations. Moreover, six students were admitted to the National Forensic University, two received full scholarships for admission to a Taiwanese state university, six joined the Indian Maritime University, 27 secured spots at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), and ten gained admission to the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research. However, the number of students entering premium medical colleges has witnessed a decline.
