TNPCB Seeks Extension to File Detailed Report on Ennore Ammonia Leak

The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) has requested additional time to submit a comprehensive report to the southern bench of the National Green Tribunal regarding the recent ammonia leak incident at Coromandel International Limited in Ennore. The tribunal had previously instructed various authorities, including TNPCB, Tamil Nadu Maritime Board (TNMB), and the Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health (DISH), to provide detailed reports on the gas leak incident that occurred on December 26.

Preliminary reports from TNPCB indicate a pressure drop in the pipelines responsible for transporting ammonia from the ship to Coromandel’s storage tank. The tribunal raised questions about the source of the leak, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation into the incident.
