Tragic Accident Claims Lives of College Students on Chennai-Tiruchi Highwa

A devastating accident on the Chennai-Tiruchi Highway near Maduranthakam claimed the lives of four college students who were traveling on the rear footboard of a private bus. The accident occurred when the bus driver swerved too close to a stationary container lorry while attempting to halt at a bus stop. The collision resulted in the students falling from the footboard, leading to the immediate deaths of three students and the fourth succumbing to injuries at the hospital.

The tragic incident underscores the dangers of overcrowded buses and negligent driving on highways. Investigations are underway, with three individuals including the bus driver, lorry driver, and conductor, already arrested. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin expressed condolences and announced financial assistance for the families of the deceased from the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund.
