UDF Wave in Kerala: A Political Turn

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The United Democratic Front (UDF) has returned to power in Kerala after spending nearly 10 years in opposition. The alliance defeated the Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) in a clear and strong victory.

Before the results, exit polls had already suggested a possible win for the UDF, but the final outcome was much bigger than expected. The alliance won a large number of seats, far more than predicted by most surveys.

Congress leader V.D. Satheesan had earlier said that the UDF would win more than 100 seats. He had even said that he would quit politics if the alliance failed to reach that mark. The results proved his prediction right, as the UDF crossed the target comfortably.

The victory marks a major change in Kerala’s political situation. It ends the long rule of the LDF and brings the UDF back to power with a strong mandate.

Political analysts say that growing public dissatisfaction with the previous government played an important role in the result. Many voters were looking for change, and the UDF managed to gain their support.

With this landslide win, the UDF is set to form the new government in Kerala, while the LDF faces a major setback after years in power.
