US Holds Off Military Strike on Iran
US President Donald Trump announced he is delaying a planned military strike on Iran after requests from leaders of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. These nations asked for the delay to allow ongoing negotiations to continue.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he received direct appeals from the Emir of Qatar, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed. The strike had been scheduled for Tuesday but was postponed. Trump emphasized that a deal acceptable to all parties could soon be reached, aimed at preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
However, Trump warned that if negotiations fail, the US military remains ready to act swiftly. He instructed Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Daniel Caine to keep forces prepared for immediate action.
Meanwhile, Iran stated earlier Monday it had addressed some US concerns through Pakistani mediators. Iran has also maintained control over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway for global oil and liquefied natural gas shipments.
