Utkarsh Singh Shines in Jharkhand’s Victory

Jharkhand all-rounder Utkarsh Singh earned his first-ever Player-of-the-Match
award in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy after delivering an excellent all-round
performance against Delhi. The match, played on Wednesday at the Narendra Modi
Stadium, was low-scoring, and Utkarsh’s contribution—taking two wickets for 30
runs and scoring 24 important runs—helped Jharkhand secure a crucial win.

Speaking on Thursday, Utkarsh explained that he had to change his bowling style
after his first over went badly and cost 15 runs. He said he realised quickly
that the pitch was not suitable for fast deliveries.

“I noticed the ball was gripping the surface, so slowing it down would work
better. It was difficult for batters to hit slower balls on that kind of wicket.
So I bowled much slower, and that made the difference.”

His smart adjustment, along with his valuable runs, played a key role in
Jharkhand’s victory and earned him the well-deserved award.
