VCK Delay Deepens Tamil Nadu Political Uncertainty

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu’s political uncertainty continues as Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) has still not made a final decision on whether it will officially support Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by Vijay, in forming the next government.
VCK’s support is considered crucial because TVK, despite emerging as the single largest party with 108 seats, still requires additional backing to comfortably secure a majority in the Assembly.
Party chief Thol Thirumavalavan has not yet clearly announced his final stand, even as political pressure and uncertainty continue to grow.
This delay has intensified speculation across the state, with many political observers closely watching VCK’s next move.
Meanwhile, VCK general secretary D Ravikumar denied media reports claiming that the party was demanding cabinet positions or ministerial posts in exchange for support.
He described such reports as false and “contrary to truth.”
Earlier, Thirumavalavan had suggested that VCK would likely align with the broader opposition position, but no formal support letter or final commitment has yet been made.
This indecision has become a key factor in Tamil Nadu’s ongoing government formation process.
As coalition negotiations continue, VCK’s final decision could play a decisive role in determining whether Vijay’s TVK can successfully form the government or whether political instability will continue.
For now, the delay has added another layer of suspense to Tamil Nadu’s already dramatic post-election political landscape.
