Yamuna River in Delhi Flows Above Danger Level Due to Heavy Rainfall

The Yamuna River in Delhi continues to surge above the danger level, with a water level of 205.34 meters recorded at 10 AM on Saturday, as reported by the Central Water Commission (CWC). Heavy rainfall on Friday night is cited as one of the reasons for the rising water levels, according to the CWC. The flood-like situation has prompted people from nearby areas to seek refuge in relief camps.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts light to moderate to widespread rainfall in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and East Rajasthan. Notably, the Yamuna broke a 45-year-old record on July 13, reaching its highest level at 208.65 meters, causing submergence of low-lying areas and flooding of roads.

Though the situation has improved and traffic is returning to roads near the river, authorities and residents remain on alert due to the possibility of rising water levels.
