CBI Probe Requested for Andhra Pradesh’s 2025 Teacher Hiring

A legal battle over Andhra Pradesh’s teacher recruitment process for DSC-2025 has reached the High Court. Senior lawyer S Sriram Subrahmanyam, who previously served as Advocate General under the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government, is asking for a CBI investigation into the recruitment process.

In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), Sriram argued that the issues go beyond simple mistakes and may involve serious problems in how thousands of teacher positions were filled. He pointed to concerns about the sports quota as a key issue.

The High Court agreed to hear the case again in three weeks after considering arguments from both sides.

Sriram claimed that before issuing the official recruitment notice, the government increased the sports quota from 2% to 3%. Under this new policy, some teacher posts were filled without written exams. The petitioner said that many candidates who were selected did not meet the required criteria for the sports certificates they submitted. Some had only participated in local events instead of state or national competitions.

The lawyer also mentioned that evidence, including information obtained through RTI requests, supports these claims and has been shared with the court.
