Like directors Selvaraghavan and Bala, Ameer has his own (slow) way of making his films.  Though his 'Yogi', in which he makes his debut as hero, is complete and is ready for release, he hasn't yet started work on his next film 'Kannabiran'.  The film was announced with much fanfare some months ago and was to star 'Jeyam' Ravi in the lead.

Usually, Ameer's films take at least a couple of years to be made and during the course of production it is not so uncommon for two Deepavalis and two Pongals to pass by.  As if referring to this indirectly, 'Jeyam' Ravi said at a recent film-related function meeting that "It's nice that Ameer Sir has taken a passion to acting; I hope to complete at least two more films before Ameer comes to me seeking my call-sheer!"

Though this was said in a lighter vein by Ravi, the meaning it carried had a lethal effect indeed.  Not in a mood to wait till Ameer launched Kannabiran, 'Jeyam' Ravi has gone ahead and given bulk call-sheet dates to Prabhudeva, who will be directing him in a new film to be produced by Kalpathi Agoram.  Kollywood circles are excited about this film, which is scheduled to go on floors from January next year.

Ask Ravi as to what happened to Kannabiran?  Smilingly, he replies that the project is very much on and would be launched once he finishes Agoram's film!
