IMF Approves Disbursement to Sri Lanka After First Review
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has completed Sri Lanka’s first review under the 48-month Extended Fund Facility (EFF) Arrangement, enabling the country to access approximately $337 million. The IMF noted satisfactory performance, with the majority of performance criteria and indicative targets met by the end of June.
Sri Lanka demonstrated progress in restoring debt sustainability, raising revenue, building reserve buffers, reducing inflation, and safeguarding financial stability. The disbursement follows the approval of a 48-month extended arrangement under the EFF in March, providing about $3 billion in total financial support to assist Sri Lanka’s economic policies and reforms.
