Jadeja Destroys South Africa at Eden Gardens

Facing Ravindra Jadeja on the spinning Eden Gardens pitch turned into
a nightmare for the South African batters. By the end of the second day of
the first Test, India was close to winning.

At stumps, Jadeja had amazing figures of 4 wickets for just 27 runs in 13
overs. South Africa were struggling at 93 for 7, with a small overall lead
of only 63 runs.

Their captain, Temba Bavuma (29 runs from 78 balls), was fighting alone.
For South Africa to have any chance on the third day — which will likely be
the final day — they need at least 125 more runs. But that seems very unlikely.

When Jadeja started bowling, India’s stand-in captain Rishabh Pant, who had
been giving instructions to Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav, was heard on the
stump microphone saying, “Jaddu bhai, you take care now.” This showed that
Jadeja, a master of spin bowling, didn’t need anyone to tell him what to do.
