Infosys Explains ₹250 Crore Land Deal

IT services company Infosys recently came into the spotlight after reports said it had sold a piece of land in Attibele, Karnataka, to real estate firm Puravankara Ltd for around ₹250 crore. Some critics claimed that the land had been given to Infosys by the state government for company expansion and job creation, which led to questions about the sale.

In response to these claims, Infosys issued a clarification on Monday, December 29. The company said that the land was not allotted by the government. Instead, Infosys explained that it had bought the land from the open market like any other private buyer.

The clarification followed a report by The Times of India, which stated that Infosys had sold a 53.5-acre land parcel near Bengaluru to Puravankara Ltd. After the report was published, concerns were raised about whether it was appropriate for the company to sell the land.

Infosys has now made it clear that the transaction was legitimate and that the land was privately purchased, not given by the government for employment or expansion purposes.
