Bumrah Breaks Wicketless Streak in IPL

Chennai (Tamil Nadu), April 21 (ANI): After Mumbai Indians’ (MI) convincing win over Gujarat Titans (GT), former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin expressed optimism about Jasprit Bumrah’s performance. Bumrah ended his six-match wicketless streak in the IPL, which began during last year’s playoffs.

While Tilak Verma’s century and Ashwani Kumar’s four-wicket haul were key to MI’s revival, the highlight was Bumrah finally breaking his dry spell. Ashwin noted that Bumrah had bowled well initially but seemed frustrated as the narrative of him not taking wickets lingered. However, with a recent breakthrough, there are high hopes for Bumrah’s future performances.

Ashwin also praised Hardik Pandya, MI’s skipper, and suggested he could soon regain his batting form. Despite averaging 24.00 in five innings, Pandya has struggled to score big. Ashwin believes if Pandya finds his rhythm, MI will become a formidable team.

In the match, GT elected to field first but struggled against MI’s batting partnership of Naman Dhir and Tilak Verma. Verma scored an explosive 101 off 45 balls, while Dhir contributed 45 runs. GT’s bowlers, including Rabada and Siraj, couldn’t contain the MI batters, who reached 199/5.

In reply, GT collapsed to 100 in 15.5 overs. Ashwani Kumar took 4/24, while spinners Ghazanfar and Santner tightened the game. Bumrah also chipped in with 1/15. MI’s victory saw them bounce back in the tournament.
