NCB Breaks Major Drug Ring in Mumbai

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Friday, May 1, 2026, that the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had successfully broken up a major international drug trafficking network.

During the operation, authorities seized 349 kilograms of high-quality cocaine in Mumbai. Officials estimated the value of the seized drugs at around ₹1,745 crore, making it one of the largest drug busts in recent times.

Amit Shah shared the update through the social media platform X, where he stated that the government remains fully committed to destroying narcotics networks. He said authorities are determined to act strongly against drug cartels and will continue efforts to eliminate such criminal organizations.

This major seizure highlights the government’s intensified crackdown on international drug trafficking, smuggling operations, and organized crime.

The successful operation is seen as an important step in India’s broader strategy to fight illegal narcotics trade, protect public safety, and prevent the spread of dangerous drugs. Officials say investigations are continuing to identify all individuals and networks connected to the smuggling ring.
