Congress Says TVK Alliance Could Win Big

CHENNAI: As Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) moves closer to becoming the single largest party in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, political discussions have intensified about possible alliances.
Congress functionary Praveen Chakravarty said on Monday that if the Congress had joined hands with actor Vijay’s TVK, the alliance could have won a clear and strong victory across the state.
He also said that he had earlier supported the idea of a Congress–TVK alliance, even before Congress began talks with the DMK.
According to current counting trends, TVK has emerged as the single largest party in the election. However, it has not yet reached the required majority mark of 118 seats needed to form the government on its own.
Political observers say coalition talks and post-poll strategies may now play an important role in forming the next government in Tamil Nadu.
